Through our partnership with The Alberta Abbey, we bring more power to creatives with free, all ages workshops! Our workshops are designed for and by creatives to maximize our growth. Whether you are just getting into a craft or you have been at it for years, we will always need to hone these skills and educate ourselves on the industry we operate in.

The workshops are broken up into 3 portions. The first is Networking, one of the most vital skills for creatives to master. Followed by an educator from the community that oversees the educational portion. This workshop is catered to the creative industry. From Business 101 to Work-Life Balance, the middle workshop is meant to help us be more successful in our creative avenues.

After a break for food (provided by The Listen Movement), we begin the Content Workshop. This is where we learn different forms of content and how different content is applicable to different mediums. Then, we work together to create content!

Networking Workshop

To start, everyone gets to know each other during our Networking Workshop. Through prompts and group activities, we learn/practice different ways of networking. We will also learn the importance of documenting our networks so everyone will be provided with templates to use during the workshop (and hopefully for their future network). During the activities we will be able to get to know the other creatives, what resources they bring to the table and what we could potentially offer them. You would be surprised what resources the people around you have to offer or what they could use your help with!

Educational Portion

The educational portion is where we invite a guest educator from within the community. This educator will be focused on bettering the lifestyle of creatives as well as providing resources that make it more likely for us to succeed within our chosen medium. For example: EPK/Creative Business 101, Freelancing 101, Building Better Habits - Time Management, Promotion/Marketing 101 and much more!

Content Workshop

After the educational portion, The Listen Movement will provide food for the attendees (fill out the "Workshop Attendance Form" prior to arrival to list any dietary restrictions, we will do our best to accommodate). While everyone is mingling and eating, the space will be transformed into our Content Workshop. During this workshop we learn about content, its importance for all creatives and how to stay authentic within our content. A brief introduction will lead us to creating content in the space. Depending on the educator, we will break into teams or work solo on bringing our ideas to fruition. Using the resources at our disposal and our new network, we will come up with an idea for content that matches our team or artistic medium. The goal is to come up with an idea and put the pieces together for a rough draft.

At the end of the workshop, attendees will have the chance to show what they created and get constructive criticism from the other attendees. This time is meant to give us an opportunity to see the content through another perspective. Could we have done something differently? Did the message truly come across? Should we have used different angles? There is so much that we don't notice until we show someone else and imagine their perspective. Plus, being in a safe space focused on growth gives us an opportunity to help each other grow. In this industry, we are constantly learning to fit in an ever changing environment.
